Well to most, this day brings thoughts of Spring, flowers, maypoles and perhaps labour parties - but to me it brings thoughts of FIVE, thats 5/4 and 5/8 of course, and some wishful thinking of 5/16. Whether you celebrate this day as Beltane, International Worker's Day or Lei Day, it wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the fifth month of the year. Just think what would life be like if there was not a fifth month, or (shudder the thought) if there was no FIVE at all. So let us honor and celebrate this number with some meteric coolness.

May is a great month to have a birthday in, too.
For songs I might suggest Asinine by Strange Land (shameless plug, verse in 5/4), Nobody's Laughing by Freak Kitchen (all 5/4), and Collaspe The Light Into Earth by Porcupine Tree (in 3, but with a 5 measure phrase)
